Art’Ventus/Penela is a project of social inclusion through culture. The Art’Ventus Quintet develops actions to educate audiences through music in a territory in the central region of Portugal, the municipality of Penela, near Coimbra, organizing the initiative’s activities and events in the respective parishes in order to reach all of their populations.
Thus, for one and a half year, between August 2022 and December 2023, a series of diverse events will take place, planned in a structured way and articulated with each other, comprising around 50 activities: six concerts, 30 pedagogical workshops and two masterclasses with the two local philharmonics. The initiative is open to everyone and is aimed at audiences from the region, both from neighboring municipalities and visitors of the village, but it is especially aimed at the inhabitants of Penela, particularly children and young people, the elderly and the sick, particularly those in social solidarity institutions, with differentiated educational programs.
The project is funded by the Portuguese Ministry of Culture and will be implemented in partnership with various local organizations, namely Câmara Municipal de Penela and Santa Casa da Misericórdia, CERCI (Cooperative for the Education and Rehabilitation of Disabled Children), Casa Beneficência Conselheiro Oliveira Guimarães and Associação Quinta das Pontes, the Sociedade Filarmónica Penelense and Sociedade Filarmónica do Espinhal, the Senior University and the Agrupamento de Escolas Infante D. Pedro.
