Formed in 2020, the Art’Ventus Quintet is a group of five leading wind players from the new Portuguese generation. They are musicians in different orchestras and professors at the major music universities and conservatories in Portugal also developing several musical projects.
SWISS TREASURES (Prospero Classical Records) is the ensemble’s debut CD, featuring wind quintets by the four Swiss composers Paul Juon, Paul Huber, Gion Antoni Derungs and Peter Mieg. The project results of an in-depth research into the wind quintet repertoire. This recording offers a rigorous interpretation of a set of masterpieces written in the 20th century for woodwind quintet, some of which have never been published before. On this album, the quintets by Peter Mieg and Paul Huber are world premiere recordings.
Since its creation, the Art’Ventus Quintet has been invited to perform in remarkable Portuguese festivals as the Festival de Música e Artes do Dão, the BSP Júnior Festival and the SETRA Festival.
Besides its concern in training new audiences, Art’Ventus Quintet leads a number of projects centered on elderly people and with mental illness as well as commissioning new works for wind quintet.
